What is doctoral research work?

Doctoral research work is a mandatory component of doctoral training, aimed at developing general and professional research competencies.

It prepares the doctoral student for independent research culminating in the writing and defence of a doctoral dissertation.



Period of implementation and result

Doctoral research is conducted throughout the entire period of study in accordance with the approved doctoral thesis topic.

During this work, the doctoral student completes research tasks, analyses the results and presents them as a completed scientific work, culminating in the writing and defence of the doctoral dissertation.

Reporting and outcomes

DRW results are recorded at the end of each academic year: the doctoral student undergoes assessment against the individual plan, reports to the supervisor and the department, and the final decision is recorded in the minutes.

Academic certification

Results are discussed at a department meeting and recorded in the minutes. The outcome reflects the doctoral student's scientific maturity.

Supervisor's conclusion

The supervisor evaluates the completion of dissertation sections, sets deadlines, and provides feedback. Assessment uses a point-rating system.

Outcome of doctoral research work

Each year the doctoral student undergoes assessment against the individual plan. Results are discussed at a department meeting and recorded in the minutes.
