Professional development course "Development and implementation of physical education programs for middle-aged, elderly, and retired individuals"
The Kazakh National University of Sports has conducted a professional development course titled "Development and Implementation of Physical Education Programs for Middle-Aged, Older, and Retired Individuals."
The training took place within the framework of program-targeted funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the scientific project BR28713049, "Improving the Quality of Life of the Middle-Aged and Elderly Population through the Promotion of Mass Sports Using Artificial Intelligence Technologies," implemented from 2025 to 2027.
The course was organized for students and the university's teaching staff. Its content was aimed at building practical knowledge and skills necessary for developing safe, scientifically grounded, and personalized physical activity programs for middle-aged, older, and elderly individuals.
The program covered the theoretical foundations of training process programming, practical methods for selecting physical education tools, approaches to regulating exercise intensity, and issues related to monitoring the functional state of participants. Special attention was paid to the application of monitoring methodologies, including heart rate, the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) scale, and digital monitoring of physical activity.
The total volume of the course was 80 academic hours, of which 64 hours were dedicated to practical sessions. Participants studied age-related anatomical and physiological characteristics, principles of active longevity, as well as approaches to ensuring exercise safety, injury prevention, and the development of self-monitoring skills, motivation, and the engagement of the older demographic in regular physical activity.
The practical part was devoted to the development of individual and group programs, taking into account the age, fitness level, functional state, and needs of the participants. The final stage was the defense of a training program project for middle-aged and elderly individuals.
Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded certificates. The training combined scientific approaches, practical preparation, and modern digital tools applied in the field of mass sports and recreational physical culture.
