About Academy
History of KNUS
In 2021, the Academy of Physical Culture and Mass Sports — APEMS was established in the capital of Kazakhstan. Its creation became part of the implementation of the national strategy for the development of sport and a healthy lifestyle, as outlined in the Concept for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2025.
The idea of establishing the academy was driven by the needs of the time. Kazakhstan is actively strengthening its position on the global sports stage, and modern sport requires not only talented athletes but also a strong scientific, educational, and methodological foundation. It became clear that for the sustainable development of sport, the country needs a center where new knowledge, training technologies, and managerial competencies are developed.
KNUS
Today, KNUS is developing as a modern, next-generation university — a space where sport, science, and education come together. Here, a system of continuous professional development is being created for coaches, methodologist instructors, sports industry managers, and sports medicine specialists.
The university’s educational programs are based on the principles of dual learning, combining academic training with practice in sports organizations, clubs, and federations. This approach allows preparing specialists capable of working in the real sports industry — from mass participation sport to elite-level sport.
