Transfer, Reinstatement and Academic Leave
Transfer and reinstatement at KNUS are possible for any educational program, regardless of the period that has elapsed since expulsion.
Transfers or reinstatements after expulsion are carried out provided that the student has fully completed the first academic period of the educational program in accordance with the individual study plan.
Reinstatement to the student body is carried out only on a fee-paying basis. In this case, the student submits an application for reinstatement addressed to the Rector. An official transcript must be attached to the application for reinstatement.
Transfer and reinstatement of students from one educational program to another, as well as from one higher education institution to another, are carried out during the vacation period.
The academic difference in the disciplines of the curricula is determined by KNUS based on the list of completed disciplines, their syllabi, and the workload in academic hours or academic credits as reflected in the transcript.
As a rule, the volume of academic credits constituting the academic difference in the curricula upon transfer or reinstatement of students should not exceed 27 credits under the bachelor’s degree educational program (hereinafter — EP).
The procedure for transferring a student to KNUS from another higher education institution is carried out in the following order:
01
A student wishing to transfer to KNUS from another higher education institution submits a free-form application for transfer addressed to the rector of the sending higher education institution and, upon receiving written consent for the transfer certified by seal, applies to the rector of the KNUS to which the transfer is being made.
02
The transfer application shall be accompanied by copies of the transcript signed by the Rector and the Registrar’s Office and certified by seal, as well as an application addressed to the Rector of KNUS (signed by the Rector and certified by seal).
03
Based on the submitted documents, the Dean determines the differences in the curricula and, in accordance with the completed prerequisites, establishes the year of study.
04
The Registrar’s Office carries out the transfer of completed credits in accordance with the educational program and approves the student’s individual study plan.
05
Based on the approvals of the Dean and the Registrar’s Office, an order of the Rector of KNUS is issued on enrollment under the state educational grant (subject to availability of a certificate on the award of a state grant) or on a fee-paying basis.

Academic leave is granted to students
Based on the conclusion of the medical advisory commission (hereinafter — MAC) at an outpatient healthcare organization, for a period of 6 to 12 months due to illness
By decision of the Centralized Medical Advisory Commission of a tuberculosis treatment organization, in cases of tuberculosis, for a period not exceeding 36 months
Based on a military conscription notice
Due to the birth, adoption, or legal adoption of a child, until the child reaches the age of three years
Return from academic leave
Upon returning from academic leave, the student resumes studies from the course at which the academic leave was granted.
After returning from academic leave, the student submits an application addressed to the Rector of KNUS and provides a certificate from the Medical Advisory Commission (MAC / CMAC) confirming the possibility of continuing studies under the relevant educational program, if the academic leave was granted due to illness.
Based on the submitted documents, within three working days, an order of the Rector is issued on the student’s return from academic leave, indicating the educational program, course, and group.
If the date of return from or commencement of academic leave does not coincide with the beginning or end of the academic period, the student completes all academic assignments according to an individual schedule and accumulates the required points for admission rating, or enrolls in summer semester courses for disciplines in which academic differences have arisen.
To eliminate academic differences, the student, in parallel with current studies during the academic period, attends all types of classes, completes all forms of ongoing and midterm assessments предусмотренные the curriculum for the respective disciplines, obtains admission, and passes final assessments during the interim certification period in accordance with the academic calendar.
